When treating low back diagnoses, it is critical for the orthopedic
physical therapist to have ‘a number of tools in the tool box’ in order
to provide a comprehensive approach to the treatment of the injured
worker. Management of pain is accomplished differently with each
patient. Given the complexity of their jobs, there is great value
incorporating functional activities early in the rehab process. Ongoing
re-evaluation is key in identifying the optimum approach to maximizing
functional performance.
